Howard B. Linett, Esq.

Howard Linett is a member of the Suicide/Homicide Bomber Tactical Analysis Focus Group of the National Terrorism Preparedness Institute and the Technical Support Working Group, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He is also a panel member for the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness Live Response television program on Homicide/Suicide Bombers, produced by the St. Petersburg College National Terrorism Preparedness Institute. Howard is the author of Living With Terrorism: Survival Lessons from the Streets of Jerusalem.

Howard has spent much his adult life living in Jerusalem, Israel. He is a veteran of the Israeli Defense Forces Combat Engineers and Honor Graduate of his Basic Training and Sapper course. He has been a member of the Israeli Police Civil Guard since 1976 and is today a Sergeant-Major and sniper instructor in its Jeruslem Sniper Unit. Howard is a frequent lecturer to Israeli Border Police Sniper Courses. He is a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors and an NRA Certified Rifle, Pistol and Personal Protection Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer.

Attorney Linett earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Bridgeport School of Law in 1982, an M.S. in Labor Studies from the University of Massachuetts in 1974 and a B.A. in Political Science from Lafayette College in 1971. He is admitted to the practice of law in Connecticut, the District of Columbia and Israel.

Howard has lectured to the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security, a joint meeting of the WMD and Counter-Terrorism Committees of the Greater Washington, DC area, Council of Governments (COG), the Fairfax County Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s Homeland Security: Understanding the Enemy Seminar, Operational Tactics National SWAT/Sniper Symposium and at “Trexpo” East and West. Howard is a member of the faculity of the S2 Safety and Intelligence Institute’s Online Academy. He is published in Soldier of Fortune, S.W.A.T., The Firearms Instructor, Police Magazine, AmericanCOP, Counter-Terrorism Journal and the New Media Journal.

Renee Lozano

Ms. Lozano received her Bachelor in Behavioral Science from Hardin-Simmons University in 1980 and her Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1985. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Trauma Specialist (CTS).  She then joined the Dallas Police Department, serving in patrol and Psychological Services. In 1989 Ms. Lozano left the police department and joined a group psychotherapy practice in Arlington. In 1992, Ms. Lozano and husband, Art, formed Lozano & Associates, their own private behavioral health practice, which also was the practice home for several other clinicians. The practice has since moved to Grapevine and the name changed to Heritage Behavioral Health Center. Ms. Lozano sees adult individuals who are struggling to overcome the symptoms and life challenges created by trauma as well as depression and anxiety.  She has received extensive training in the area of adult survivors of childhood abuse and treatment modalities to help them. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is one of the primary therapies approved for the treatment of trauma/PTSD.

Ms. Lozano has done critical incident response for several law enforcement agencies including local departments as well as being a contracted Employee Assistance Clinician for the Drug Enforcement Administration. She’s also done trauma response for other large employers such as Delta Airlines. These professional affiliations have enabled her to be of assistance after the Oklahoma City bombing, Hurricane Georges, 9/11, and numerous smaller scale critical incidents within DEA that required travel to Puerto Rico or other states for the proper response.  Of course she sees police officers and other law enforcement personnel in the office for their personal or duty-related traumas.

Ms. Lozano’s professional affiliations include: EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists (ATSS) and National Association of Social Workers (NASW)


Andrea Perez

 

Andrea Perez served 28 years on the Dallas Police Department. She worked numerous assignments, including Patrol, Communications, Community Services, Intelligence Division, and Family Violence Squad. She served as a sergeant the last ten years of her career. Her last assignment was as a sergeant in the Family Violence Squad. Perez trained officers at the Dallas Police Academy, teaching how to properly handle a family violence call. She also trained small police departments for the Dallas County Family Violence Unit of the D.A.’s office, traveling throughout Texas.

While working in Community Services, Perez attended several conferences regarding crime prevention. She set up and worked with Crime Watches, taught businesses and homeowners how to secure their buildings, and gave speeches on crime prevention (burglary, rape, crimes against the elderly, etc.)

Perez brings a wealth of information for seminars on crime prevention and family violence issues (which extend into the workplace.)
